About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Barrett Business Services, Inc. (BBSI) plays a crucial role in managing payroll for a diverse client base. This position is responsible for processing accurate and timely payrolls for approximately 60-80 clients, each with unique payroll complexities. The Payroll Specialist will also engage with clients to enhance their payroll and accounting systems, ensuring optimal service delivery and process improvements. The role requires strong business acumen and a proactive approach to client service, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Run high volume perfect and timely on- and off-cycle payrolls for multiple client companies.
• Become an expert in new client onboarding, BBSI payroll, CRM (Salesforce), timekeeping, and HRIS systems.
• Identify systems options to achieve better results for clients and business unit members.
• Perform on-site client payroll training and HRP web training.
• Become a subject matter expert on client data including turnover, ongoing or seasonal headcount fluctuations, time & attendance, and job costing.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in a multi-client, fast-paced environment.
• Strong client service orientation and superb customer service skills.
• Demonstrated experience in process improvement and streamlining.
• Experience as a bookkeeper or accountant is desirable.
• Knowledge of wage and hour laws and taxability of wages.

Nice-to-haves

• CPP or FPC designation highly preferred.
• Advanced degree is a plus.
• Experience in CRM, Citrix preferred, HRP software experience a big plus.
