The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for Graniterock. This position operates under minimal supervision and is responsible for a variety of payroll-related tasks, including processing weekly payroll, managing involuntary deductions, and maintaining accurate accounting transactions. The Payroll Specialist must ensure that all payroll activities align with Graniterock's Family Vision, Core Purpose, Core Values, Strategic Priorities, and overall business objectives. In this role, the Payroll Specialist will facilitate the weekly payroll process, which includes manual time entry, reviewing edits, printing checks, and posting journal entries to ensure that Team Members receive accurate payments. The position also involves reconciling and processing information received from various payroll groups, as well as analyzing payroll reports and participating in regular audits to maintain accurate recordkeeping and reporting. Collaboration with the Human Resources department is essential to review changes in Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) to ensure that these changes are accurately reflected in time entries. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will provide general information and respond to employee and field inquiries in a courteous manner, aiming to exceed customer expectations. The role requires the processing of various system and administrative tasks to assist the department in maintaining accurate records. Meeting weekly and monthly processing deadlines is critical, as is issuing interim checks to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
