About the position

The Fresh Market is seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our Store Support Center. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll department, handling day-to-day payroll activities with precision and care. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees across multiple states, utilizing UKG UltiPro and UKG WFD Dimensions. This position requires a keen eye for detail, as the specialist will calculate payroll adjustments for retroactive pay changes and ensure that all time records are accurately reviewed and verified in the UKG Work Force Management system. In addition to payroll processing, the Payroll Specialist will provide exceptional customer service to our store employees. This includes addressing payroll inquiries through various channels such as email, telephone, and a case management system. The role demands a proactive approach to resolving time clock issues and supporting Store Managers in the approval processes within the UKG system. The specialist will also be responsible for maintaining accurate employee and payroll records, ensuring compliance with state-required sick leave, holiday pay, and garnishments. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, working independently while also being a team player. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining confidentiality and adhering to company policies and procedures, all while contributing to the overall mission of The Fresh Market to make everyday eating extraordinary for our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Processing bi-weekly payroll for multi-state hourly and salary employees using UKG UltiPro and UKG WFD Dimensions.
  • Calculating payroll adjustments for retro-active pay changes.
  • Reviewing, verifying, and helping store management adjust time records in UKG Work Force Management - Dimensions.
  • Identifying and resolving time clock issues and supporting Store Managers in the approval processing in UKG Work Force Management - Dimensions.
  • Liaising with assigned stores to resolve inquiries with urgency and discretion.
  • Making appropriate updates to employee details based on supporting instruction from HR and Benefits.
  • Maintaining accurate employee and payroll records in UKG UltiPro.
  • Assigning and calculating taxes for both work in and residential taxes.
  • Applying state required Sick Leave, Holiday/Premium Pay, and minor restrictions accurately.
  • Interpreting and applying garnishments for federal, state, and other agencies, including distribution of payments and required communications with agencies and employees.
  • Calculating payments from Gross to net, considering shift differentials, premium pay, deductions, and wage garnishments.
  • Following processing procedures, adhering to policies, and maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 2+ years of payroll related experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimum supervision.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products, particularly Excel.
