About the position

As a Payroll Specialist at TEKsystems, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of payroll processes for both internal employees and contractors. Reporting to the Sr. MOS (East Coast) and other management within the department, you will serve as the primary liaison between the Field Support Group, Quality Assurance Group, and other Payroll Compliance entities. Your main responsibility will be to review, process, and audit weekly payroll data to ensure adherence to all Federal, State, and Local laws. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of payroll policies and procedures. In this role, you will be responsible for entering promotions and terminations into PeopleSoft for processing, reviewing edit reports from PeopleSoft related to wages, taxes, and general data. You will also resolve discrepancies concerning employee wages and taxes, acting as the point of contact for clarifying payroll tax questions. Additionally, you will process daily on/off cycle payroll requests, research and resolve bank-related issues, and manage stop payments and voids. Your ability to validate outstanding checks for abandoned property will also be essential in maintaining compliance and accuracy in payroll operations. The Payroll Specialist position is integral to the overall payroll function at TEKsystems, and you will be expected to demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the payroll department, ensuring that all employees are compensated accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Enter promotions and terminations into PeopleSoft for processing.
  • Review edit reports from PeopleSoft (wage, tax, & general data).
  • Resolve discrepancies on employee's wages and taxes.
  • Act as the point of contact for clarifying payroll tax questions.
  • Process daily on/off cycle payroll process requests.
  • Research and resolve bank-related issues.

  • Validate outstanding checks for abandoned property.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2+ years Payroll Experience preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in time management, organization, and communication.
  • Strong customer service and multi-tasking skills.
