The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll on a weekly basis, ensuring that all payroll documentation is accurate and compliant with company policies and regulations. This role involves a thorough review of payroll audit reports to identify discrepancies and make necessary adjustments. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with the Accounting department to address any payroll-related issues that may arise, ensuring that payrolls and payroll tax deposits are processed in a timely and accurate manner. In addition to processing payroll, the Payroll Specialist will compute wages, correct errors, and ensure that all changes to payroll are accurately reflected in the system. Maintaining accurate payroll records and employee files is a critical aspect of this position, as is working with the Benefits department to ensure that benefit deductions are correctly applied and recorded. The Payroll Specialist will also be responsible for entering new hires into the payroll software and conducting regular audits of the master file and pay data entries, including year-to-date totals and necessary amendments. The role requires the preparation of various payroll and management reports, journal entries, and workers' compensation documentation, as well as reconciling quarterly payroll taxes. The Payroll Specialist will handle all garnishments, deductions, and vacation/sick accruals, and will be the point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll matters. Maintaining client confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential is paramount in this role.
