About the position

The Payroll Specialist at The Goodman Group is responsible for managing the payroll process across various company entities, ensuring timely, compliant, and accurate payroll processing. This role serves as a point of contact for employees, providing solutions and human resources support related to the ADP system. The position emphasizes delivering exceptional service and maintaining confidentiality while handling payroll-related inquiries and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to Help Desk emails and calls in a timely manner.
  • Delegate, log, and track the status of Help Desk tickets.
  • Support field employees through problem-solving processes, following standard procedures.
  • Identify and escalate urgent situations requiring immediate attention.
  • Process assigned payrolls confidentially, accurately, and in compliance with regulations.
  • Manage workflow to ensure timely completion of payroll responsibilities.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Process new hires from the HR Applicant Tracking System.
  • Ensure compliance with garnishment calculations and requirements.
  • Handle employee questions regarding payroll discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist in implementing payroll processing efficiencies and act as a technical resource.
  • Administer the electronic timekeeping system and ensure adherence to FLSA regulations.
  • Monitor submissions of approved timesheets and ensure valid data transfers to payroll.
  • Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions upon request.
  • Process employment verifications and respond to unemployment inquiries.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent education.
  • 3+ years of full payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with ADP WFN and NewGen preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax jurisdiction rules affecting payroll preparation.
  • Experience processing multi-state payrolls.
  • Excellent project and time management skills, especially under critical deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Experience processing payroll for companies with over 1000 employees.
  • Ability to create policy and procedure documentation.
