About the position

The Payroll Specialist is a part-time role responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. This position requires a deep understanding of payroll regulations, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process payroll for all employees, including salaried, hourly, and contract workers, in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Review and verify employee time records, resolving discrepancies and ensuring compliance with established schedules.
  • Calculate and apply deductions for benefits, taxes, garnishments, and other withholdings, and process adjustments, bonuses, and other pay-related changes as needed.
  • Calculate commissions and overrides for sales representatives.
  • Ensure payroll processes adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, staying up to date with changes in tax laws and labor laws.
  • Prepare and maintain payroll reports for management, audits, and compliance purposes, such as tax filings, wage summaries, and year-end documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee earnings, deductions, and tax information.
  • Respond to employee inquiries about pay, deductions, and payroll policies, providing excellent customer service and resolving issues promptly.
  • Use payroll software to process payroll, troubleshoot system issues, and recommend improvements for efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, or similar tools).
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in the Google Workspace, Monday.com, and other office software.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
