About the position

The Payroll Specialist at KVC Health Systems is responsible for the timely preparation and payment of company payroll. This role involves providing excellent customer service to employees and utilizing problem-solving skills to address payroll-related issues. The position is integral to the finance team and requires a strong understanding of payroll processes and compliance with tax laws.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all payroll records, reports, and audits; work closely with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and government regulations.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner utilizing time and pay reporting systems.
  • Review, audit, and balance payroll prior to transmission to ensure time and deductions are entered accurately.
  • Review computed wages and correct any errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings.
  • Review payroll taxes and verify accuracy by state and city if applicable.
  • Provide friendly customer service to employees with payroll questions or issues.
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues within multiple business units.
  • Process garnishments and assure they are withheld and paid timely.
  • Ensure that all legally required taxes are correctly set up, withheld, and paid in a timely and accurate manner and reconciled accordingly.
  • Prepare Month End reports per close deadlines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of payroll experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of multi-state taxation preferred.
  • Experience using ADP payroll reporting system preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to define problems, identify solutions, and implement changes.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
