Scope of Position: The Payroll Specialist applies business knowledge for the successful weekly compilation and reporting of hourly payroll. This role facilitates a positive relationship between personnel and management, answers hourly employee questions on employee relations, compensation, benefits, and employee services. The Payroll Specialist follows Human Resources practices and objectives to provide accurate, timely and compliance-driven achievement throughout the facility. They escalate payroll deviations and deadline concerns as critical issues to management and coordinate the implementation of projects with local and corporate Human Resources staff.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing payroll reporting and activities
  • Compiling payroll process weekly and submits reports accurately and on time
  • Coordinates and processes Off Cycle payments as necessary
  • Enters correcting items from error report from Pay Card and Bank Returns
  • Completes payroll tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager
  • Acts as an employee information resource for payroll and time keeping system
  • Answers questions from employees and supervisors regarding payroll matters
  • Enters electronic records for hourly personnel
  • Manages employee weekly and daily schedules and adjustments
  • Handles ID badges, vacation, sick leave, etc.
  • Assists with governmental/compliance reporting
  • Assists in the management of files and producing reports
  • Manages employee personnel files
  • Creates HR reports when necessary
  • Assumes other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years background experience in a packing plant with knowledge of all areas
  • Minimum 2 years supervising employees in a food safe environment
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • SAP and Kronos knowledge preferred
  • 2 years of experience in a similar role preferred
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • College experience preferred
