About the position

The Payroll Specialist position at AppleOne is focused on managing certified payroll processes, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and maintaining accurate records for various projects. The role requires a deep understanding of payroll systems and labor regulations, particularly in relation to union agreements and prevailing wage laws. The specialist will work independently in a fast-paced environment, communicating with contractors and project managers to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of certified payroll including starting new projects and maintaining compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure all projects remain compliant with state and federal labor regulations.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for active projects.
• Adapt to changes in labor laws and implement necessary adjustments to stay compliant.
• Proactively gather information by contacting general contractors and maintain open communication with them and project managers.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in employment and labor law related to payroll processes.
• Full knowledge and proficiency in LCP Tracker, Elation, and the new DIR system.
• Extensive understanding of the Davis-Bacon Act, prevailing wage laws, fringe benefits, and union agreements.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
• Detail-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience working with union payrolls, fringe benefits, and prevailing wage compliance.
• At least 5 years of recent experience managing certified payroll processes in a similar role.
