About the position

Extension is seeking a Payroll Specialist for a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients located in Madison, WI. This position is crucial for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll for over 100 hourly and salaried employees across two states. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for supporting all general ledger tasks, which include the preparation of account reconciliations and related journal entries. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the preparation of financial forecasts and reviews, as well as the annual budget. The Payroll Specialist will gather data for a variety of financial reports and analyses, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. Other accounting duties may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic role within a well-established family-owned company that values flexibility and work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Timely and accurate processing of payroll for 100+ hourly and salaried employees in two states.
• Support all general ledger tasks, including preparation of account reconciliations and related journal entries.
• Assist in preparation of financial forecasts and reviews, and annual budget.
• Gather data for a variety of financial reports and analysis.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2+ years of payroll experience.
• Experience with ADP and Workday is preferred.
• Mid-level accounting skills required.
• Proficient in data entry and account reconciliation.
• Ability to create and work with pivot tables.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Workforce Now is a plus.
• Multi-state payroll experience is a plus.
