About the position

The Payroll Specialist at DHL is responsible for supporting the administrative functions within the payroll department. This role involves managing payroll records, processing payroll transactions, and responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with payroll processes and to provide recommendations for process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a work queue ensuring tasks are completed within service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Follow and maintain internal control policies and compliance related to payroll processes.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to meet business needs.
  • Support customer inquiries and educate on tools, processes, and policies.
  • Collaborate on special projects as requested by management.
  • Assist processing team with manual check distributions.
  • Sort and handle inbound mail related to payroll.
  • Verify income and employment via Equifax.
  • Complete and respond to garnishment and child support orders, including documentation scanning.
  • Process vendor invoices and manage Tier 1 employee escalations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state payroll environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of ADP Vantage and Kronos or similar payroll applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret information accurately.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Experience with payroll practices and regulations.
