About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Mimedx Group Inc. plays a crucial role in the Finance & Accounting team, responsible for processing bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls for salaried and hourly employees using UKG Pro. This position ensures the accuracy of payroll data, manages employee inquiries regarding pay, and collaborates with supervisors to resolve discrepancies. The role is hybrid/remote, requiring the employee to reside near Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

  • Audit employee time and labor data and interact with supervisors to verify hours and resolve discrepancies.
  • Approve bi-weekly timesheets and PTO requests to build time import file for payroll in UTM.
  • Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls in a multi-state corporate environment.
  • Validate shift differentials and other pay based on assigned shifts.
  • Ensure accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, social security contributions, employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments, and other deductions of employee paychecks.
  • Assist with balancing of payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns.
  • Accurately process garnishments and communicate garnishment information to all parties.
  • Monitor, complete, and respond to department shared e-mail box.
  • Liaison with UKG regarding payroll and UTM system issues and cases.
  • Run various payroll reports from UKG Pro, including some BI/People Analytics.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three (3) years payroll processing experience as Payroll Clerk, Coordinator, Administrator or Analyst.
  • Experience in a large, multi-state environment is preferred.
  • A minimum of an associate degree or bachelor's degree, or payroll certification (FPC or CPP) preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with UKG Pro Payroll (formerly known as UltiPro) is a must.
  • Experience with UKG Time Management (UTM) is preferred.
  • Experience with Canada or global payroll processing is preferred.
  • Proven ability to complete work accurately, independently, and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong and proven customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills across departments as well as with external partners.
