About the position

This position is responsible for processing company payroll, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions while maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state laws. The role involves preparing statistical reports on employee pay, managing payroll records, and performing payroll accounting responsibilities. Additionally, the position requires troubleshooting technical issues with payroll systems and interpreting pay policies.

Responsibilities

  • Process company payroll accurately and timely.
  • Calculate wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions in compliance with laws.
  • Prepare statistical reports on employee pay, commissions, bonuses, and leave.
  • Generate and respond to inquiries regarding paychecks and withholdings.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, ledgers, and files.
  • Perform bi-weekly and monthly payroll accounting responsibilities.
  • Track and deduct all garnishments and special payroll deductions.
  • Review payroll reporting and ensure accurate filing with appropriate sources.
  • Prepare audit reports and supporting documentation, verifying data authenticity.
  • Complete post payroll audits and reporting, preparing metrics and tracking issues.
  • Review and approve bank transactions related to payroll.
  • Set up state tax codes for all employees.
  • Document and maintain department job aids and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Interpret pay policies and verify compliance with payroll requirements.
  • Contribute to moderately complex aspects of projects and participate in other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in payroll administration or equivalent education/experience.
  • Knowledge of general practices of payroll administration.
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce now strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and expert data entry skills.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
  • Well organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and urgent requests.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
