About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in employee compensation, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires proficiency in various financial software and accounting practices, as well as strong data entry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time, utilizing accounting software and systems such as Workday and Kronos.
  • Maintain employee records related to payroll, benefits administration, and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Collaborate with HR to manage benefits administration and resolve any discrepancies in employee compensation.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the implementation of new payroll systems or upgrades to existing financial software.
  • Support month-end closing activities related to payroll expenses.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in financial software, particularly accounting software used for payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration and accounts receivable processes.
  • Excellent data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with journal entries and general accounting principles.
  • Experience using Workday or Kronos is preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in accounting (1 year preferred)
  • Experience as an Account Specialist (3 years preferred)
