About the position

We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist located in Portland, Oregon. This role is within the engineering industry and will involve handling payroll for a large number of employees across multiple states. The position requires familiarity with various accounting software systems and payroll processing platforms. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for conducting accurate and efficient processing of payroll for over 500 employees, ensuring compliance with all applicable payroll regulations and standards, and addressing payroll-related inquiries from employees. The successful candidate will utilize accounting software systems to maintain accurate payroll records and effectively manage multi-state payroll processing. This includes utilizing ADP Workforce Now and other ADP Financial Services for payroll operations, handling bi-weekly payroll processing efficiently, and monitoring payroll issues to take necessary actions. The role also involves collaborating with other team members to improve payroll processes and systems, ensuring that the payroll operations run smoothly and efficiently. Candidates should have proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role within the engineering industry, with demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience with ADP Financial Services. The ability to process bi-weekly payroll accurately and efficiently, along with excellent numerical and communication skills, is essential. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask are also critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accurate and efficient processing of payroll for over 500 employees.
  • Utilize accounting software systems to maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Effectively manage multi-state payroll processing.
  • Utilize ADP Workforce Now and other ADP Financial Services for payroll operations.
  • Handle bi-weekly payroll processing efficiently.
  • Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees.
  • Monitor and take necessary actions concerning payroll issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Ceridian and other related payroll systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with other team members to improve payroll processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role in the Engineering industry.
  • Proficient with Accounting Software Systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience with ADP Financial Services.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Payroll is essential.
  • Must have handled payroll for over 500 employees.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Ability to process bi-weekly payroll efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent numerical and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to payroll.
  • Professional certification in Payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)) is a plus.
