About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting with the processing of bi-weekly payroll and ensuring accurate payroll deductions, time and attendance records, and compliance with federal and state laws. This role involves data entry, account balancing, and collaboration with HR for benefits administration, while also providing training and support to employees and supervisors on the timekeeping system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the processing of bi-weekly payroll.
  • Analyze, calculate, enter, record, and process payments for various payroll deductions.
  • Enter, verify, balance, and maintain time and attendance records with timesheets and/or electronic time management system.
  • Enter data into system databases and spreadsheets.
  • Assist with account balancing and payroll reconciliations before and after finalizing to ensure accuracy.
  • Set up, monitor, and process payments for child support orders and garnishments in accordance with federal and state laws.
  • Assist with entering and balancing open enrollment and/or qualifying event changes.
  • Assist in the training of employees and supervisors on the use of the timekeeping system.
  • Work in conjunction with HR to assist in verifications and audits for benefits open enrollment period and changes throughout the year.
  • Prepare periodic payroll reports for review by supervisors.
  • Assist in the reconciliation and auditing of monthly, quarterly, and annual data reports.
  • Use computer skills to effectively communicate, plan, organize, and collaborate with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Associates Degree plus equivalent experience required.
  • Prior payroll and/or bookkeeping experience desired.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and exhibit good attendance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High ethical standards with a strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Administrators, Teachers, Staff, and outside public agencies.
  • Accuracy with numbers and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google.
