About the position

The Payroll Specialist role is a temporary contract position focused on ensuring the smooth operation of payroll systems and processes within a growing organization in Plainview, New York. The specialist will manage timesheet approvals, train employees on payroll-related systems, and perform various clerical and data entry tasks.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with employees through email and phone to secure timesheet approvals.
• Provide training and instructions to employees on the utilization of payroll-related systems, including timesheet entry and access to online pay statements.
• Carry out various clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, and photocopying.
• Handle data entry tasks into Excel and the ADP payroll system.
• Manage and perform audits on union calculations using Excel as directed.
• Download, distribute, and save reports as instructed.
• Create and run custom reports from ADP.
• Utilize ADP Workforce Now to process payroll.
• Monitor customer accounts and take necessary actions based on account status.
• Ensure accurate processing of customer credit applications and maintenance of customer credit records.

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in ADP Workforce Now is required.
• Proven experience in payroll processing is mandatory.
• Familiarity with payroll tax laws and regulations is essential.
• Must have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, is required.
• Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are necessary.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the architecture industry is preferred but not required.
