About the position

The Payroll Specialist at Sequel Youth & Family Services plays a crucial role in assisting the payroll supervisor with biweekly payroll processing for assigned programs. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing and recording, providing timely financial information, and participating in daily data entry. The role requires collaboration with a team of professionals in a fast-paced environment, emphasizing precision and expertise to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze assigned program time sheets and recalculate as necessary.
  • Calculate adjustments to individual payroll accounts.
  • Prepare various payroll-related reports.
  • Analyze and update employee insurance reports.
  • Research payroll disputes and resolve them.
  • Prepare employee changes summary for payroll.
  • Update employee maintenance files for payroll and human resources.
  • Prepare TACC Billing and complete Labor Statistics for various states.
  • Prepare garnishment payments as required.
  • Enter payroll data in the Evolution payroll system.
  • Work closely with an external payroll processing company.
  • Fill in for the payroll supervisor during their absence, including preparing month-end journal entries related to payroll.
  • Interact with the Human Resources department regarding personal leave, new PARs, unemployment claims, and workers' compensation claims.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • BS/BA in business, accounting, or relevant field is a plus.
  • Proven experience with payroll processing/wage attachment (1+ years required).
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with different levels of management.
