The Payroll Specialist at Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate processing and recording of payroll for the organization. Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), this position is responsible for providing timely and accurate financial information, performing daily data entry, and executing related tasks as required. The Payroll Specialist will manage the workflow to ensure that all payroll transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to all payroll laws and regulations. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of the payroll system and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. In addition to processing payroll bi-weekly, the Payroll Specialist will provide excellent customer service to employees regarding various payroll-related inquiries, including compensation, taxes, clocking in/out, requesting time off, and changing benefits. The position involves processing employee data, including new hires and changes, executing time and attendance processing, and interfacing with payroll systems. The Payroll Specialist will also be responsible for the calculation and distribution of commission reports as needed, completing employment verifications, overseeing Personnel Action Form submissions, and processing manual checks. Furthermore, the role includes assisting with new hire orientation and onboarding, along with other assigned duties as necessary. The ideal candidate for this position will be detail-oriented and capable of handling sensitive and confidential information. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, as is the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. A working knowledge of payroll best practices and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are required, while familiarity with ADP systems is desired but not mandatory. The Payroll Specialist must possess a strong work ethic and be a team player, contributing positively to the overall functioning of the human resources department.
