About the position
The Payroll Specialist at Holt & Patterson, LLC is responsible for managing client payroll processing, payroll tax preparation, and related accounting tasks. This full-time position requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as the specialist will handle various payroll functions, including audits and reporting. The role is office-based in Chesterfield, MO, and may require overtime during peak periods such as quarterly filings and year-end processing of W2s and 1099s.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain employee records including pre-tax and post-tax deductions.
- Handle garnishment and child support orders.
- Prepare client's payroll checks and payroll reports according to client requirements.
- Process direct deposits and client federal and state tax deposits.
- Prepare client quarterly payroll tax returns, W2s, and 1099s.
- Assist clients with payroll-related audits and reporting, including workers compensation and 401k.
Requirements
- Prior experience with payroll processing is required.
- Prior payroll tax preparation experience is necessary.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must.
- Accurate data entry skills are essential.
- Strong organizational skills to meet simultaneous deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- High degree of trustworthiness and sensitivity regarding confidential information.
