About the position

The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in managing the payroll process for over 1,800 employees at our Houston location. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can efficiently process weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing employee changes, garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and state unemployment insurance, as well as conducting quarterly tax verifications. A deep understanding of payroll software and HRIS systems is essential, as the specialist will be expected to create reports on demand and review employee timecards for accuracy, reconciling any variances that may arise. In addition to payroll processing, the Payroll Specialist will serve as a point of contact for managers and supervisors regarding employee timecard inquiries. This role will also involve preparing and maintaining employee files, ensuring that all information is accurate, compliant, and confidential. The specialist will support the Benefits team as needed and will be responsible for providing training materials and deadlines to new managers. The ability to adapt to changing business priorities and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment is critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing weekly payroll for 1,800+ employees.
  • Process employee changes and verify payroll accuracy on a weekly basis.
  • Process garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, state unemployment insurance, and quarterly tax verifications.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of payroll software and HRIS.
  • Create reports on demand.
  • Review employee timecards for accuracy and reconcile variances.
  • Reach out to managers and supervisors with questions and concerns pertaining to employee timecards.
  • Provide training materials and deadlines to new managers.
  • Monitor payroll email box.
  • Prepare and maintain employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
  • Support Benefits team as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience with full-cycle payroll processing (required).
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (required).
  • Experience with Kronos Workforce Dimensions (preferred).
  • Experience with iCIMS (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools, specifically Excel.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to quickly changing business priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, decisiveness, and flexibility.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a discreet, confidential manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Time management.
