About the position

We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Reston, Virginia. The chosen candidate will be entrusted with the management of certified payroll processes for a substantial number of employees, along with the task of data entry and payroll processing. The role requires the handling of manual processes in a fast-paced environment. The Payroll Specialist will oversee the certified payroll process for a significant number of employees, ensuring that all payroll transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner. This position involves transitioning from Sage 100 software to UKG Pro for payroll processing, which requires a comprehensive understanding of both systems. The specialist will also monitor and resolve any payroll discrepancies or issues that may arise, maintaining detailed records of all payroll transactions to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Excellent customer service is essential, as the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for addressing payroll-related inquiries from employees. Additionally, the role may involve carrying out other tasks as needed within the scope of the payroll function.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the certified payroll process for a significant number of employees
  • Conduct manual processing tasks as required
  • Manage data entry duties related to payroll
  • Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner
  • Transition from Sage 100 software to UKG Pro for payroll processing

Requirements

  • Possession of a certification in payroll processing
  • Proficiency in handling manual processes associated with payroll
  • Experience in managing payroll for a workforce of 101 to 500 employees
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll systems and procedures
  • Experience in processing bi-weekly payroll accurately and in a timely manner
  • Proficiency in using Sage 100 payroll software
  • Experience with the UKG Pro payroll platform
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials.
