About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll on a weekly basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations. This role involves reviewing payroll documentation, making necessary adjustments, and collaborating with accounting and benefits teams to maintain accurate payroll records and employee files. The Payroll Specialist also prepares various payroll reports and handles inquiries related to payroll matters.

Responsibilities

  • Processes payroll weekly
  • Reviews payroll documentation for accuracy through audit reports and makes necessary adjustments
  • Works closely with Accounting on payroll-related issues
  • Ensures weekly payrolls and payroll tax deposits are processed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Reviews and computes wages, correcting errors to ensure accuracy of earnings
  • Ensures all changes to payroll are processed correctly
  • Maintains accurate payroll records and employee files
  • Works closely with Benefits to ensure accurate benefit deductions and record keeping
  • Enters new hires into payroll software
  • Reviews and audits master file and pay data entries, YTD totals, and file amendments
  • Prepares various payroll and management reports, journal entries, and reconciles quarterly payroll taxes
  • Handles all garnishments, deductions, and vacation/sick accruals
  • Answers inquiries regarding employment verification
  • Responds to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters
  • Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

  • Experience in payroll processing and administration
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with accounting and benefits teams
  • Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills for responding to employee inquiries

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations
