The firm is currently seeking a highly skilled and professional Payroll Specialist to join their team. This role is crucial as it involves managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring that all payroll processes are executed with precision and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of payroll processing, including the filing of payroll taxes and managing payroll deductions. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can maintain high levels of organization and communication to effectively liaise with clients and address their payroll needs. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a designated book of clients, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing. This includes preparing and filing federal, state, and local payroll taxes in compliance with applicable laws, as well as calculating and processing payroll deductions such as taxes, benefits, and garnishments. You will also maintain accurate records of payroll transactions and client communications, respond to client inquiries regarding payroll issues, and conduct regular audits of payroll records to ensure compliance and accuracy. Staying updated on payroll regulations and best practices is essential to ensure that the firm remains compliant and provides the best service possible. Additionally, you will assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures, collaborating with other team members to ensure seamless delivery of payroll services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a designated book of clients, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local payroll taxes in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Calculate and process payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions and client communications.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a public accounting or payroll service environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and payroll deductions.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
