About the position

As a Payroll Specialist, you will prepare and process accurate and timely payrolls by collecting data, entering payroll-related changes, and reviewing payroll reports. Your responsibilities include reconciling payroll, tracking garnishments, maintaining labor distributions, researching labor and tax regulations, and preparing payroll-related journal entries. You will also generate and distribute payroll reports, maintain state requirements for payroll processing, and train staff on payroll processes. Additionally, you will troubleshoot software issues, serve as a service support contact, and identify improvement areas in payroll processing. You will participate in developing and maintaining payroll systems, review and reconcile tax records, maintain confidentiality, and ensure consistent, timely, and accurate payroll processes. You will also create and maintain payroll performance metrics, assist in audit preparations, maintain policy documents, and provide customer service regarding payroll inquiries. Collaborating with the Director, you will evaluate and implement changes to payroll policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Multi-state payroll processing for 500+ individuals.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and payroll reconciliation experience.
  • Experience with large payroll processing systems like ADP or Workday.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Capability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
