About the position

As a Payroll Specialist at Briggs & Stratton, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll and all associated tasks. This role involves reviewing, reconciling, auditing, and balancing payroll documents and files to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines. You will provide exceptional customer service to all employees and third-party vendors involved in payroll processes. Additionally, you will assist in training staff on new payroll procedures and systems, as well as oversee the preparation of special payrolls. Your daily tasks will include performing various payroll processing activities such as auditing, reviewing, balancing, data entry, and processing payroll calculations. You will also be responsible for generating ad hoc reports for different departments to meet corporate requirements and completing both internal and external reporting to ensure that customer needs are met. Furthermore, you will handle weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tax payments and filings with federal, state, and local agencies, while maintaining accurate records and supporting documentation for all filings and payments. In this role, you will administer and oversee all tasks related to expatriate payroll processing and special payrolls, ensuring compliance with specific requirements such as DOL, IRS, FLSA, and other federal and state regulations. You will also provide customer support, including training aspects of payroll, and participate in timekeeping update and upgrade testing. Responsibilities

  • Review, reconcile, audit, and balance payroll documents/files.
  • Provide customer service for all employees and third-party vendors associated with payroll.
  • Assist with training staff on new payroll procedures and systems.
  • Oversee the preparation of special payrolls.
  • Perform tasks associated with payroll processing including auditing, reviewing, balancing, data entry, and processing payroll calculations.
  • Produce ad hoc reports for various departments for corporate requirements.
  • Complete internal and external reporting to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tax payments and filings with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping and supporting spreadsheets and documents for all filings and payments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of experience with in-house payroll processes, time and attendance, or related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll practices including payroll rules, regulations, and payroll tax withholding laws.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities/projects.
  • Accurate data entry skills and strong math aptitude.
  • Ability to isolate and resolve problems within fixed time frames in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in payroll/timekeeping software systems (including Ceridian/Dayforce and UKG).
  • Experience in multi-state payroll.
