About the position

RB Properties, Inc., a DC Based Independent Hotel owner-operator, is looking for a Payroll Specialist to handle all aspects of the payroll process for our 5 hotels. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll on a weekly basis for all employees across the hotels, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all payroll-related policies and regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage data entry and changes accurately, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and position changes. The Payroll Specialist will also ensure that proper deductions are withheld for each employee, including voluntary deductions such as insurance benefits and mandatory deductions like federal, state, and local taxes, as well as garnishments. In addition to payroll processing, the Payroll Specialist will handle payroll-related projects as they arise, including audits and reconciliations. Maintaining organized electronic files related to payroll, benefits, and personnel is crucial. The role also involves providing reports and analysis of data from ADP as requested and working closely with the HR Director on the administration of all benefit programs. The Payroll Specialist will visit hotels weekly to assist employees with payroll or benefit questions and conduct monthly benefit enrollment meetings at the hotels. Participation in the overall maintenance of the HRIS and supporting HR and Accounting with various projects and responsibilities is also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll on a weekly basis for 5 hotels using ADP WFN
  • Handle all data entry and changes accurately including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and position changes
  • Ensure proper deductions are withheld for each employee; voluntary deductions such as insurance benefits and mandatory deductions, such as federal, state, and local taxes, and garnishments
  • Handle payroll related projects as they arise, including audits, reconciliations, etc.
  • Maintain organized employee electronic files related to payroll, benefits and personnel
  • Provide reports and analysis of data from ADP as requested
  • Work with HR Director on the administration of all benefit programs
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll-related policies and regulations
  • Visit hotels on a weekly basis to assist employees with payroll or benefit questions
  • Conduct monthly benefit enrollment meetings at the hotels
  • Participate in overall maintenance of HRIS
  • Support HR and Accounting with various projects and responsibilities, as necessary

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with ADP Workforce Now Payroll
  • 2+ years of payroll administration
  • Bilingual skills are preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills / problem solving
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner
