About the position

The Payroll Garnishment Specialist is responsible for managing and processing payroll garnishments across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This part-time, temporary role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to collaborate with employees and various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process payroll garnishments, including child support, tax levies, and creditor garnishments, for employees in multiple states.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws governing garnishments.
  • Maintain accurate records of garnishments and related documentation across different jurisdictions.
  • Update employee records to reflect changes in garnishment status or amounts as required by state regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding garnishment inquiries.
  • Collaborate with legal and financial institutions to resolve discrepancies across states.
  • Generate and analyze reports related to garnishments for management review.
  • Provide periodic updates to payroll and HR teams regarding garnishment trends and issues.
  • Stay informed about changes in garnishment laws and regulations in all states where employees reside.
  • Assist in training payroll staff on garnishment processes and compliance requirements.
  • Address employee concerns or questions regarding payroll deductions with professionalism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in payroll processing, with a focus on garnishments and multi-state payroll preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, especially regarding garnishments across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
