The Payroll Specialist at Sonida Senior Living plays a crucial role in managing the payroll processes for the company, ensuring that all employees receive accurate and timely payments. This position is integral to the overall HR services provided to employees and leaders, as payroll is a key deliverable that impacts employee satisfaction and financial reporting. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with the Payroll and Human Resources teams to maintain high standards of payroll accounting and financial controls. This hybrid-based position allows for flexibility while ensuring that the payroll function operates smoothly across all Sonida communities. In this role, the Payroll Specialist will administer payroll processing for all Sonida communities, ensuring that all new hires, terminations, and employee changes are accurately reflected in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS). The specialist will provide Tier II support to management and employees, addressing any discrepancies or issues related to employee payroll records. It is essential that the payroll processes align with financial controls, and the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for timely reporting and accounting entries that accurately reflect payroll expenses in the company's financial reporting. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Payroll Specialist will partner with both the HR leadership team and the Reporting/Accounting leadership team to refine payroll processes. This partnership aims to ensure excellence and quality in payroll processing while creating seamless integration with other employee processes. The role requires a proactive approach to process management, including the development and maintenance of process files for all components of the payroll process, ensuring that the payroll function operates efficiently and effectively across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Administers processing payroll for all Sonida communities.
  • Works with the payroll team to ensure that all new hires, terminations, and employee changes are reflected in the HRIS.
  • Provides Tier II support to management and employees to ensure that all employee/payroll records are correct.
  • Ensures that payroll processes are aligned with financial controls and that timely reporting and accounting entries are available for accurate payroll expense reflection in financial reporting.
  • Partners with HR leadership and Reporting/Accounting leadership to refine payroll processes and ensure quality in payroll processing.
  • Creates seamless integration with all other employee processes to deliver payroll along with HR services.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years experience in Payroll function.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of payroll processing experience.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience in multi-site payroll processing is highly desired.
  • Experience with electronic payroll processing systems, UKG Pro experience is highly desired.

  • Ability to supervise multiple subordinates to ensure systematic, consistent, and accurate payroll processing.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills.
