About the position

UF Health Proton Therapy Institute (UFHPTI), a not-for-profit Radiation Oncology Cancer Center located in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a full-time Certified Payroll Specialist. This role is crucial for processing the company's bi-weekly payroll and managing various payroll-related tasks. The Payroll Specialist will assist employees and management with payroll inquiries, ensure compliance with payroll regulations, and maintain the integrity of payroll files. The position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the organization's bi-weekly payroll and timekeeping functions. This includes training new employees on the timekeeping system, conducting bi-weekly time card reviews, and processing payroll transactions. The role also involves ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions, including benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. The Payroll Specialist will assist employees with questions regarding wages, taxes, and deductions, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. In addition to payroll processing, the Payroll Specialist will reconcile benefit invoices to payroll and the general ledger, prepare recurring and ad-hoc payroll reports, and respond to unemployment and worker's compensation claims in a timely manner. The position may also involve performing other duties as assigned, contributing to a collaborative work environment focused on providing world-class service to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the organization's bi-weekly payroll and timekeeping functions.
  • Train new employees on the timekeeping system.
  • Answer employee questions regarding payroll.
  • Conduct bi-weekly time card reviews and payroll processing.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of payroll files.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Process payroll transactions including benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
  • Assist employees with questions about wages, taxes, and deductions.
  • Reconcile benefit invoices to payroll and general ledger.
  • Prepare recurring and ad-hoc payroll reports as requested.
  • Review and respond to unemployment and worker's compensation claims with third-party administrator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current certification with American Payroll Association (APA), CPP preferred.
  • At least one year of payroll processing experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations and wage/hour laws.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Effective problem solver with attention to detail.
  • Prior experience with Paycom payroll system preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping systems.
