About the position

Precision Door Service is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to oversee various payroll operations, including multi-state payroll administration, timekeeping, and workforce management. The role requires compliance expertise in payroll, tax, and employment laws, as well as technology and systems management for payroll and timekeeping systems. The Payroll Specialist will also contribute to HR initiatives and provide analytics and reporting to HR leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll administration including compilation, analysis, preparation, and input of payroll related information into payroll system ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Resolve problems and respond to inquiries related to payroll earnings, deductions and tax withholding.
• Compile and review payroll-related information for year-end reporting.
• Research tax requirements and prepare tax filings for workers' compensation and any special information requested for external parties/auditors.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws while monitoring regulatory and legislative changes that impact payroll.
• Propose and implement changes to systems and processes when needed.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports and historical changes to employee or payroll records.
• Analyze data, provide analytics and KPI reporting to HR Leadership, monitor metric trends and provide executive summaries.

Requirements

• 4+ years of payroll experience with at least 2 years in a multi-state payroll environment preferably within California.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Expert-level Microsoft Excel skillset including writing advanced formulas, analyzing large volumes of data, pivot-tables and macros.
• A track record of delivering consultative approaches to payroll administration, systems architecture and labor analytics.
