About the position

The Payroll Specialist role at Robert Half is a contract-to-hire position based in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. This critical role within the financial services sector focuses on ensuring compliance with payroll tax regulations, supporting payroll processes, and collaborating with various teams and vendors to maintain efficient payroll operations.

Responsibilities

• Stay updated with payroll tax compliance regulations by utilizing resources, ensuring compliance
• Ensure accurate employee tax setup in payroll
• Generate, balance, and submit periodic US and Canada tax files to tax vendor, and reconcile impound invoices
• Set up new tax jurisdictions with tax authorities, and ensure their setup in applicable system(s) and with tax vendor
• Liaise with tax authorities and tax vendor to ensure timely tax notice resolution and resolution tracking
• Conduct regular tax audits and reconciliations including year-end W-2, T4, RL1s
• Respond to and resolve payroll tax inquiries and discrepancies, escalating to management as required
• Assist in internal and external audits as required
• Perform payroll support functions including employee W4 updates, printing and shipping of live checks, and review of payrolls prior to finalization
• Maintain all tax spreadsheets including rate changes, amendments, online passwords, tax notices, applied for jurisdictions
• Process payroll tax adjustments
• Retain all supporting documentation on the payroll shared drive by applying the pre-established, organized and deliberate methodology
• Provide high-level, quality, professional customer service and maintain positive relationships with our employees

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a payroll processing position
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Knowledge of Accounting Functions
• Experience with high-volume hourly and salaried payroll
• Strong working knowledge of payroll filing software programs
• Expertise in handling Payroll Taxes
• Bachelor's in Accounting or a related field preferred
