About the position

We are offering an opportunity for a Payroll Supervisor/Manager to join our team in Northwest, Indiana, United States. In this role, you will be tasked with overseeing the accurate and efficient processing of employee payroll, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role is crucial in maintaining employee satisfaction and our organization's reputation. As a Payroll Supervisor/Manager, you will play a key role in managing payroll operations, ensuring that all payroll processes are executed accurately and on time. You will be responsible for maintaining payroll records, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring that all payroll-related activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Your expertise will help in fostering a positive work environment by ensuring that employees are compensated correctly and on schedule. Additionally, you will be expected to stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations, and implement necessary adjustments to payroll processes as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, verify, and input time and attendance data into the HR/Payroll System.
  • Calculate employee wages, salaries, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation according to company policies and union contracts.
  • Ensure accurate deductions for taxes, employee benefits, garnishments, and other withholdings.
  • Prepare and execute direct deposits or other methods of payment.
  • Handle special pay situations such as raises, backpay, and union dues and initiation fees.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local labor laws and tax regulations to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting.
  • Assist with payroll tax reporting and payments.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records for all employees.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to employee pay in a timely manner.
  • Process changes in employee status, including new hires, terminations, and adjustments to pay rates or deductions.
  • Use spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel to organize and manage data.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in ADP Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now- Preferred
  • Experience in 401k and RRSP Administration
  • Experience with Union Payroll
  • Strong auditing skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Payroll, specifically in a unionized environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Supervisor, Manager, or Director
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information
  • Relevant certification or degree in Finance, Human Resources or related field is preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and software
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
