About the position

We are situated in the Application Service Provider industry in San Diego, California, seeking a Payroll Supervisor/Manager. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity. The chosen candidate will be tasked with managing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance for our team. The Payroll Supervisor/Manager will oversee payroll processing for approximately 900 employees across multiple states using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and compliance. This position requires the ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies proactively, choosing the most effective communication method. The candidate will also offer guidance on optimizing open enrollment and other benefits processes and reconciliations. Collaboration with HR and accounting during customer acquisitions to ensure a smooth transition for onboarded employees is essential. Maintaining a high level of confidentiality at all times, particularly concerning compensation, is a critical aspect of this role. The Payroll Supervisor/Manager will manage relationships with third-party payroll-related vendors and prepare and maintain payroll records and reports, including standard and ad hoc reports, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness as required by Accounting, Finance, and HR. Additionally, the role involves reviewing and reconciling quarterly and annual federal and state payroll taxes, reviewing and distributing annual W-2s, and preparing bi-weekly 401(k) transmittals for employees. The candidate will also provide documentation for payroll, 401(k), and benefit audits and assist in preparing the annual 401(k) 5500 non-discrimination report.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Payroll Supervisor or Manager role.
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and ADP - Payroll software.
  • Familiarity with Multistate Payroll processing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
