About the position

The Payroll Systems Analyst Senior / Consultant role at APS is designed for an analytical expert responsible for ensuring seamless payroll operations through strategic system management and collaboration across various departments. This position involves providing essential support and maintenance for payroll systems, leading process improvements, and driving technology enhancements to optimize Payroll and Time & Labor processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, design effective reporting protocols, and guide projects from planning through successful implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain payroll systems, ensuring effective functioning across business units and departments.
  • Lead payroll system projects, collaborating with IS teams, developing project timelines, and aligning ERP software with organizational needs.
  • Develop standardized reporting protocols, generate reports, and maintain data consistency across all payroll and HR systems.
  • Identify and implement system enhancements that improve processes, increase accuracy, and elevate team performance.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior team members and facilitate cross-functional teamwork to drive impactful results.

Requirements

  • BS/BA equivalency or an equivalent combination of four years relevant work experience and relevant college coursework in business, information technology or a related area.
  • Five (5) years experience with a strong understanding of payroll database design, structure, functions and processes, and experience with database tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business processes and operational knowledge including functions, procedures, processes, and computer systems.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and tie functional needs to technology solutions.
  • Strong analytical ability to review data, see relationships and patterns, as well as communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience in managing projects and identifying and resolving issues.
  • Proficient knowledge of emerging practices and technologies used within the area.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and standards impacting business areas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with specific systems in the functional area may be required.
  • Skilled in consulting and project management methodologies while working with business customers and executing projects.
