About the position

The Payroll Systems Specialist is responsible for managing the configuration of the time and attendance system, validating and importing time data into the payroll system biweekly for employee paychecks, and assisting in the configuration and administration of the payroll system in collaboration with the Payroll team. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll processes and timekeeping systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the time and attendance system, including setting up department codes and work types.
  • Add new hires and process employee status changes within the payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Build import templates and load data into the time and attendance system.
  • Maintain interfaces for employee data, worked time, and leave balances between the time and payroll systems.
  • Provide support to time and attendance managers in the administration of timekeeping.
  • Troubleshoot and escalate timekeeping issues with the system vendor as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of improvements to timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Prepare time and attendance data for processing with the biweekly payroll process.
  • Serve as a payroll administrator as needed, processing various payroll data.
  • Train district timekeepers and employees in the use of timekeeping systems.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Accounting or business-related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably with Business Plus.
  • 3+ years of timekeeping system experience, preferably with Timeclock Plus.
  • 3+ years of Excel experience with knowledge of VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll-related laws and regulations, preferably in government entities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, or equivalent applications.
  • Knowledge of Ohio STRS and SERS programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
