About the position

The Payroll & Talent Specialist at Butler/Till is responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the talent team in various HR activities. This role requires collaboration with multiple departments to maintain accurate payroll records and provide excellent customer service to employees. The specialist will also assist in recruitment efforts and manage employee lifecycle activities, contributing to the overall efficiency of payroll and talent operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and in a timely manner, including salary, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Validate timesheets, attendance records, and other relevant documents for accuracy.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and coordinate with various departments to obtain necessary payroll information and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, analyze payroll data, and conduct regular audits prior to final submission.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and develop resources to educate employees on payroll policies.
  • Coordinate with external payroll service providers to ensure seamless integration and timely delivery of payroll-related services.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving payroll regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Provide input on payroll policies and participate in payroll-related projects and process enhancements.
  • Support the Talent Team with HCM maintenance, recruitment efforts, and employee lifecycle activities.
  • Develop expertise in the HCM system and provide comprehensive support to employees.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
  • Manage HR Actions such as promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments in the HCM system.
  • Execute the timely processing of employee terminations and prepare exit packages.
  • Assist in the preparation of talent and payroll reports and metrics.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure alignment and accuracy between data transfer and processes.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits, including enrollment and changes.
  • Support Finance reporting and filing requirements, including yearly W2 audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years proven experience in payroll processing.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and calculation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently and on tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Knowledge of different types of HCM/payroll software.
  • Knowledge of payroll, garnishments, and benefits distribution.
  • Strong multitasking abilities.
  • Good research and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years proven experience in an HR support role.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience in Benefits administration.
  • Experience with Paylocity and UKG Ready.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
