About the position

Payroll4Construction is seeking a dedicated Payroll Tax Specialist to join our dynamic team in Strongsville, OH. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and processing payroll taxes, ensuring that our clients are compliant with federal, state, and local tax regulations. You will report directly to the Payroll Tax Manager and play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of tax filings for our diverse clientele. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining an expert level of knowledge regarding payroll tax regulations and best practices, accurately filing federal, state, and local tax liabilities, and ensuring that amended tax filings are completed promptly. You will also be tasked with reviewing payroll records to confirm that tax transactions are recorded correctly, auditing new client setups to ensure compliance, and generating and correcting W-2 forms as necessary. Your contributions will be vital in fostering positive client relationships through effective communication and customer service. Responsibilities

  • Maintain an elevated level of expert knowledge of federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and best practices relating to payroll taxes.
  • Accurately and timely file federal, state, and local tax liabilities.
  • Accurately and timely file amended federal, state, and local tax liabilities.
  • Review and monitor payroll records to confirm tax transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Audit new client setup to confirm taxes and other items are set up correctly.
  • Generate, audit, and correct W-2s as required.
  • Provide positive, clear, and effective customer service communication via phone, email, and/or fax to contribute to client retention.
  • Engage in teamwork and maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance for face-to-face interaction and coordination with other employees.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience processing and reconciling payroll taxes across multiple states and locals.
  • Knowledge of processing and reconciling payroll taxes in multiple jurisdictions, and the ability to learn federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, and best practices related to payroll taxes.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn and master other software applications as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred experience in MasterTax and Foundation Software.
