About the position

Abacus Payroll Inc., a growing affiliate payroll company, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Tax Specialist to join our team in Hammonton, NJ. This full-time position is essential for ensuring that our small business clients receive accurate and timely payroll processing. The Payroll Tax Specialist will work closely with the Abacus Payroll team to manage various payroll tax responsibilities, including the submission of weekly, monthly, and quarterly tax payments. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, and the successful candidate will be expected to stay updated on any changes in these regulations. In addition to processing payroll, the Payroll Tax Specialist will assist in filing quarterly and year-end tax returns, ensuring that all submissions are accurate and timely. The role also involves researching and responding to IRS and state agency tax notices, which requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with tax agencies on behalf of the company and its clients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism and accuracy in their work, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, especially during peak payroll tax seasons, which occur at the end of the year and the end of each quarter. The Payroll Tax Specialist will also be responsible for setting up appropriate electronic filing requirements for tax agencies, which requires a strong understanding of payroll tax laws and procedures. This position is not only about technical skills but also about maintaining client confidentiality and handling sensitive employee data with care. Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely payroll processing to small business clients.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll taxes, wage laws, and common fiscal procedures.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, accuracy, ability to prioritize, and be detail-oriented.
  • Strong computer literacy skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
