About the position

The Payroll Tax Specialist at OnePoint Human Capital Management is responsible for providing exemplary service to customers while managing payroll tax research, planning, and preparation. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can prioritize tasks effectively and ensure accurate reporting of tax and accounting data. The specialist will act as a liaison between the company, clients, and auditors, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare payroll taxes and perform general numbers crunching.
  • Review customer payroll federal, state, and local tax filings for completeness.
  • Conduct, manage, negotiate, and settle tax audits for both federal and state taxes.
  • Review tax information supplied by clients and communicate with them as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both customers and internal support teams.
  • Offer tax and accounting guidance and support for the internal support team.
  • Recognize, anticipate, and resolve tax issues, making recommendations as necessary.
  • Meet productivity and efficiency standards in all tasks.
  • Ensure accurate disbursement of direct deposit funds through creation and verification of ACH files.
  • Account for and reconcile tax escrow, direct deposit, and trust funds.
  • Review and approve tax information for new clients and/or conversions.
  • Perform monthly analysis of operations.
  • Stay updated with changes in Federal, State, and Local payroll tax laws.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of payroll tax experience.
  • Working knowledge of payroll tax code and regulations.
  • Ability to perform tax planning and due diligence.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong computer aptitude, including expertise with Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Business-related field is a plus.
