About the position

The Payroll Timekeeping Specialist at Trinity Health plays a crucial role in supporting day-to-day payroll activities for assigned ministries or service lines. This position involves ensuring accuracy in payroll processing, timekeeping, and employee information management while adhering to federal and state regulations. The specialist will collaborate with Payroll Coordinators and Operations Managers to maintain compliance and assist with various payroll-related tasks, including audits and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support and perform day-to-day payroll activities for assigned ministries or service lines.
  • Ensure accuracy in employee payroll processing and timekeeping.
  • Complete payroll tax reports and perform audits to ensure data accuracy.
  • Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing.
  • Run Kronos/Dimensions timekeeping reports and Workday Payroll reports for audits.
  • Act as backup to Payroll Coordinator for balancing timekeeping file information.
  • Process employee expense reimbursement forms and maintain confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Assist with special projects related to system enhancements and quality improvements.
  • Monitor payroll team email inbox for employee inquiries and respond accordingly.
  • Process employee time correction forms and historical edits in the timekeeping system.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting or human resources, or 1-3 years of equivalent payroll experience.
  • Experience in a multi-entity and multi-state organization handling payroll processes.
  • Familiarity with payroll tax and state reciprocity rules, garnishments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Strong personal computer skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Experience with Workday, Kronos/Dimensions, and ADP tax services is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in payroll tax compliance and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations.
  • Familiarity with internal controls related to payroll functions.
