About the position

The Payroll Union Specialist at Amentum is responsible for the design, implementation, and enhancement of all union reporting, processing, and controls within the Payroll organization. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and involves ensuring compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA's) while managing union dues, pensions, and health & welfare payments. The position is remote and requires US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Union Specialist for the design, implementation, and enhancement of all Union Reporting, processing, and controls.
  • Perform reconciliations and initiate payments for Union Dues, Pensions, and Health & Welfare in compliance with CBAs.
  • Establish, modify, and develop processes to enhance and expedite the processing of Union Reporting via electronic means.
  • Lead or assist in the set-up of all new deduction codes in the payroll system and liaise with staff and payroll provider.
  • Provide timely reporting and audit support for all unions.
  • Prepare monthly accruals for both Union and Worker's Compensation.
  • Conduct continuous audit and legal support for all unions, meeting all deadlines for union reporting.
  • Prepare Quarterly Worker's Compensation reporting.
  • Serve as the point of contact for inquiries and requests for interpretation of all data related to Unions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience in Payroll including union experience or related area with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Knowledge of the Standard Contract Languages of the International Association of Machinists (IAM) Pension for accurate and timely reporting.
  • Understanding of all union deductions codes and calculations affiliated with each code.
  • Knowledge of US federal and state employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, McNamara O'Hara Service Contract Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Ability to analyze data and make accurate math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages.
  • Ability to quickly make decisions based on accurate and timely data analysis.
  • Capable of working under pressure of deadlines and handling a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing multiple competing tasks.
  • Intermediate Excel skills including use of pivots and Vlookups.
  • Knowledge of project accounting concepts. Payroll/Timekeeping system experience preferred: Deltek CostPoint version 7 or higher, ADP Enterprise v5, and Workday.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
  • Experience processing Payroll/Timekeeping for 5,000 or more employees with a large multi-state or international employer preferred.
