About the position

TSI seeks an experienced technical writer to create comprehensive documentation for complex systems. As a Technical Writer III, you will communicate complex ideas effectively. With relevant education and extensive experience, you'll develop and edit technical documentation for various products and procedures. Your ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation will be crucial in this role. This position requires a strong background in technical writing, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation meets the highest standards of clarity, accuracy, and usability, making it accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. In this role, you will develop, write, and edit technical and administrative publications. You will observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedures and details, and you will interview production and engineering personnel to gather necessary information. Familiarity with product technologies and production methods is essential, as you will read journals, reports, and other materials to become acquainted with these areas. Additionally, you will review manufacturers and trade catalogs, drawings, and other data related to equipment operation, maintenance, and service. Your responsibilities will also include studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequences and details. You will organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Furthermore, you will review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding. Maintaining records and files of work and revisions will be part of your duties, as well as selecting photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material. You may also assist in laying out material for publication and arrange for typing, duplication, and distribution of material. Writing speeches, articles, and public or employee relations releases may also be required, along with editing, standardizing, or making changes to material prepared by others.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree OR High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) years of experience with an associate degree OR Ten (10) years of experience with a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills for technical and administrative content.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and convey complex technical information.
  • Proficiency in interviewing subject matter experts and gathering information.
  • Skill in organizing and structuring large amounts of technical data.
  • Familiarity with various technical documentation formats and styles.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong research skills for gathering technical information.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software for document creation and management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
