The PBX Operator is responsible for operating communication equipment, which includes inter and intra PBX operations. This role involves contacting physicians and staff through various means such as pagers, two-way radios, cellular telephones, and overhead pages. The operator will also manage the hospital information system, TTY/TTD for the hearing impaired, and fax machines. A critical part of the job is monitoring CCTV security cameras, running surveillance upon request, and reporting any unusual or suspicious activity to security personnel. In emergencies, the operator will announce alerts, notify relevant personnel, and enter reports in the system for various critical situations including trauma stats, critical response teams, and evacuations. The PBX Operator will provide daily shift lists, conduct camera checks, and maintain the weekly Administrative on-call list. They will also monitor the Securall system and manage patient telephone restrictions as requested by authorized personnel. The operator is expected to report any camera malfunctions and will work as an information operator during the night shift from 2100 to 0700. Additionally, they will make announcements over the PA system when approved by administration, ensuring effective communication within the hospital environment.
