About the position

The PC Support Analyst position at the City of Mesquite involves performing a variety of complex administrative and technical functions within the Information Technology Department. The role focuses on computer network administration and personal computer coordination, providing support for hardware, software, and operating systems, while ensuring compliance with city policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform PC hardware, software, and operating system installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Provide one-on-one training and telephone support for users.
• Set up and support desktop and laptop computers, printers, and software applications.
• Confer with end users to determine hardware and software needs.
• Participate in evaluating new hardware and software and related standards.
• Write small applications and utilities using Java, Visual Basic, Perl, or other scripting languages.
• Learn basic LAN or other system administration skills as needed.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance according to scheduled hours of work.
• Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

• Associates Degree or accredited technical school certificate in personal computer and/or network support, or a certificate of competency in personal computer and/or network support.
• Four years of experience providing personal computer and/or network support may substitute for the education requirement.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Java, Visual Basic, Perl, or other scripting languages.
• Basic LAN or system administration skills.
