About the position

The PC Support Specialist provides technical support to enhance computer user and system efficiency. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, installing and upgrading systems, and providing training and assistance to users.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and resolves computer user support requirements by answering questions about hardware and software.
• Installs, modifies, and makes minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical assistance and training to system users.
• Responds to requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, or other computer-related technologies.
• Determines the source of malfunction by interviewing users and guiding them through diagnostic procedures.
• Analyzes functions, applications, and operations and evaluates existing and proposed solutions.
• Recommends applicable solutions to resolve problems and improve efficiency.
• Establishes PC performance by installing hardware, software, and peripheral components.
• Monitors network performance and works with technical staff to resolve problems.
• Teaches users on effective use of systems and creates user documentation and training materials.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.

Requirements

• Trade school course completion, AA, or equivalent external training in computer repair (e.g., Microsoft Systems Certification).
• 4+ years of directly related experience.
• A+ Certification in personal computer maintenance and repair.

• Ability to adapt procedures, techniques, and/or processes to meet special needs.
• Ability to manage several assignments simultaneously through prioritization.
