About the position

The PC Technician role at TEKsystems involves providing second-tier support to end-users for various IT-related issues, specifically focusing on PC, server, and mainframe applications and hardware. The technician will work under general supervision to resolve problems that first-tier help desk support cannot address, ensuring efficient operation and user satisfaction. This position requires an active Secret Clearance and on-site work in Vicksburg, MS, with responsibilities including software installation, hardware troubleshooting, and user training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide second-tier support to end-users for PC, server, and mainframe applications and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that first-tier help desk support cannot address.
  • Simulate or recreate user problems to identify and correct core issues.
  • Recommend systems modifications to reduce user problems.
  • Perform software installation and configuration for personal computers.
  • Conduct technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers.
  • Install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Configure operating systems and load application software programs.
  • Troubleshoot printer, computer, and peripheral incidents.
  • Perform hardware and software diagnostics and coordinate repairs.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in PC/Desktop/IT support.
  • CompTIA A+/CompTIA Net+/CompTIA Sec+ certification (must have one of these).
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Current DoD 8570 IA Baseline Certification, IAT Level I (e.g., A+ CE, Network+ CE).
  • Experience supporting Windows 7, Windows 10, and MS Office 2013.
  • Experience using Remedy or a similar ticketing system.
  • Strong analytical and follow-through skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience maintaining Lexmark, HP, or Ricoh printer devices.
  • Prior USACE/ACE-IT experience.
  • Experience working in a DoD environment.
  • Experience supporting Office 365.
