About the position

The PC Technician will provide second-tier support to end-users for various applications and hardware as part of the US Army Corps of Engineers RITS program in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving issues that first-tier help desk support cannot address, maintaining technical skills, and recommending system modifications to enhance user experience. The technician will also perform software installations, configurations, and provide operational and training support to users.

Responsibilities

  • Provide second-tier support to end-users for PC, server, and mainframe applications and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that first-tier help desk support cannot address.
  • Simulate or recreate user problems to identify and correct core issues.
  • Recommend systems modifications to reduce user problems.
  • Install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Configure operating systems and load application software programs.
  • Perform hardware and software diagnostics and coordinate repairs.
  • Resolve computer system problems, including coordination between users and local area network components.
  • Participate in the evaluation of system configuration and software.

Requirements

  • Current DoD 8570 IA Baseline Certification, IAT Level I (e.g., A+ CE, Network+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security certifications).
  • Must obtain appropriate DoD 8570 IA Computing Environment Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience supporting Windows 7, Windows 10, and MS Office 2013.
  • Experience using Remedy or a similar ticketing system.
  • Strong analytical and follow-through skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and get cooperation from multiple areas within IT.
  • Ability to work well independently on defined tasks.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience maintaining Lexmark, HP, or Ricoh printer devices.
  • Prior USACE/ACE-IT experience.
  • Experience working in a DoD environment.
  • Experience supporting Office 365.
