About the position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other care needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, particularly in long-term care settings, and will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for our clients. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Support clients with mobility and transfers safely.
• Assist with meal preparation and cooking nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs.
• Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation of medication administration.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as laundry and maintaining a clean living environment.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation, particularly for those with dementia.
• Monitor clients' physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all safety protocols while providing care.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
• Certification in CPR is a plus.
• Familiarity with long-term care practices and dementia care techniques is beneficial.
• Experience in a nursing home or similar caregiving environment is advantageous.
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for managing multiple tasks efficiently.
